SULLIVAN COUNTY TOURISM COMMISSION OFFICE

Everything you need before you head out the door.

The Tourism Commission is at 25 S. Main Street in Sullivan. Stop in for trail maps, park guides, and brochures that cover the county from Shakamak State Park to the Greene-Sullivan State Forest, plus a word on what’s happening that week. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 to 5.

THE MARKER TRAIL

Eight stops, two centuries.

Sullivan County’s eight state historical markers plot a day’s drive on their own: the Westernmost Naval Battle of the Revolution near Carlisle, the grave of Jane Todd Crawford north of Graysville, the Fairbanks’ Massacre and A Civil War Murder markers in Fairbanks, Merom’s founding, its Chautauqua, and the old college, and the Carnegie library in Sullivan. Read one, drive to the next, and the county’s story assembles itself by suppertime.
