Try the Pickle Rick first: pickle juice over shaved ice with a dill spear in it, and a tajin rim if you ask. That is the spirit of The Shave Shack, the mint green stand under a thatched palm roof at the Farmer’s Market corner, where West Jackson meets South Court. The yellow surfboard bolted to the front carries the flavor list, almond through watermelon by way of buttered popcorn and lavender, and the chalkboard by the window builds the specialty snow cones: Pink Diva, Coral Reef Crush, Shark Attack, Peach Paradise.
Ice cream is here too, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, hand-scooped into cones, root beer floats, and ice cream nachos, waffle chips around a scoop with chocolate sauce for dipping. The window opens at one in the afternoon every day of the week and goes an hour later Friday through Sunday, late enough for the stop after a ball game.
