The big red building on 3rd Street in Merom has an antique shop up front and the café behind it. The kitchen is going by 5 in the morning, breakfast and lunch last until 2 every day but Sunday, and Friday night adds a catfish-and-shrimp dinner from 5 to 8, with all the fixings and hand-dipped hushpuppies alongside. The cooking is home-style, the desserts are homemade, and the dining room wears a western look. Merom Bluff is close enough to walk to once the plate is clean.
